Grand Gala of Banglalink IT Incubator 2.0 held in exuberant atmosphere

Top six digital startups to get infrastructural, logistic and mentoring facilities

Dhaka, 12 July, 2018: The Grand Gala of Banglalink IT Incubator 2.0, a joint initiative of Banglalink and Bangladesh Hi-tech Park Authority (BHTPA) for fostering the growth of promising digital startups in the country, was held in an exuberant atmosphere at Le Méridien, Dhaka today. The top six participating digital startups were announced at the special event, which marked the successful completion of a long and rigorous selection process led by a group of eminent IT experts. Mustafa Jabbar, Honorable Minister of Post, Telecom & Information Technology graced the event attending as the Chief Guest. Also present at the event were Erik Aas, CEO, Banglalink, Hosne Ara Begum, Managing Director, Bangladesh Hi-tech Park Authority and other high officials of the two organizations.

Assessing the uniqueness and commercial prospects of the digital ideas, the top six digital startups were selected from more than 200 participants, who will be given infrastructural, logistic and mentoring facilities for one year at IT Incubator located in Janata Tower, Kawran Bazar. The Initiatives of the selected digital startups - Genie IOT, Chobir Baksho, Homefoodz.co, Parkly, Teach it and Easy Sense – are based on AI-powered smart appliances, photography marketplace, online food delivery, car-parking solutions, e-learning and Industrial IoT, respectively.   

IT Incubator is a part of ‘Make Your Mark’, the flagship Corporate Responsibility program of Banglalink’s parent company VEON. The renowned global telecom operator is committed to facilitating the development of the IT sectors of all the societies around the world it operates in.

Launched in July 2016, the first phase of IT Incubator was inaugurated by Mr. Sajeeb Wazed, ICT Advisor to Honorable Prime Minister and Mr. Houlin Zhao, Secretary General, International Telecommunications Union.
